The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards were recently held at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre and the biggest film and television stars showed up in style for the prestigious ceremony. ‘Saturday Night Live’ star Kenan Thompson, who hosted the event for the first time, kicked off his monologue with a dance to a medley of popular television theme songs, pointing out the lack of diversity in these shows.
Kenan also joked about Leonardo DiCaprio, who was recently in the news for his breakup with model Camila Morrone. Mentioning Zendaya, one of the biggest nominees of the evening, he said, that she just turned 26 last week, which is a weird age in Hollywood. He further stated that she’s young enough to play a high school student, but too old to date Leonardo.
The host also addressed the Oscar slapgate, involving Will Smith and Chris Rock, in his monologue He noted how Regina Hall, who hosted this year’s Oscars was also in the audience. ‘Surprised she’s at another award show, girl, you brave’ he joked.
