The 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards were held on June 7 at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles. The awards show was hosted by Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner. ABC’s General Hospital swept most of the awards.
Kelly Clarkson emerged as the biggest winner as her talk show won a Daytime Emmy for the fourth consecutive year in a row. ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ won an award for the Outstanding Daytime Talk Series. The 42-year-old made the heads turn in a hot pink dress. The actor expressed gratitude for prioritising her mental health and moving the show from Los Angeles to New York City after its fourth season.
The award show marked a big moment for Dick Van Dyke who scripted history by becoming the oldest winner of Daytime Emmy Award at the age of 98. He bagged the award for his guest role as Timothy Robicheaux on ‘Day of Our Lives’. “I feel like a spy from nighttime television. 'I can't believe it. I was playing old men all my life. If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself!” the Mary Poppins actor told Variety.
