Pan Nalin’s ‘Last Film Show’ has made it to Oscars 2023 shortlist. Film Federation of India jury member, filmmaker Sangeeth Sivan has reacted to the news, saying that decision to select the Gujarati film as India’s official submission for the Oscars has been ‘vindicated’.

Taking to Twitter, Sangeeth wrote, 'There was such a huge & cry when #Chelo was selected. All sort of accusations happened. The jury was convinced that it had to be The film 2 represent India. D other films were good but as a film this stood out. The jury & #FFI stand vindicated now that it has been shortlisted #Oscars.'

Film Federation of India had faced massive backlash after they selected ‘Last Film Show’ as India’s official entry for the 95th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film Category, over the more popular films like ‘RRR’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’.

‘Last Film Show’ was also accused of being a ripoff of the Italian film ‘Cinema Paradiso’. Director Pan Nalini had clarified and said that he ‘paid homage’ to that film.

‘Chhello Show’ is a semi-autobiographical film that stars Bhavin Rabari, Vikas Bata, and Richa Meena among others.

SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus 'RRR' has also advanced in one category, Music (Original Song), for 'Naatu Naatu'.
