Aamir Khan has once again come under fire for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. The actor collaborated with Kiara Advani for the first time for a bank commercial, but it is being massively trolled on social media for ‘mocking’ Hindu traditions, and many claimed that they were closing their accounts at the bank in protest.

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has also shared the video of the ad on social media, and slammed the brand for trying to change ‘social & religious traditions’, and called the makers ‘idiots’.

‘I just fail to understand since when banks have become responsible for changing social & religious traditions? I think @aubankindia should do activism by changing corrupt banking system,’ Vivek tweeted on Monday.

The AU Small Finance Bank ad features Aamir and Kiara as newlyweds. They are seen discussing how none of them cried during the bidaai, a post wedding ceremony, while travelling back from their wedding in a car. The ad shows the groom has moved to the bride’s house to help her in taking care of ailing father, and he takes the first step in their new house, as opposed to the Hindu tradition. The ad concludes with Aamir saying, ‘Why should traditions that have continued for centuries continue to do so? That’s why we question every banking tradition. So that you get the best service.’

The actors and the bank are yet to commented on the matter.

Aamir Khan has stirred many controversies in the past as well. Earlier, he faced backlash for his statements about growing religious intolerance, in which he said his ex-wife Kiran Rao felt ‘unsafe’ in India.
