Salman Khan, who recently announced his upcoming collaboration with director A R Murugadoss and Sajid Nadiadwala, has showered praises on Kiran Rao. The actor watched Kiran Rao’s directorial ‘Laapata Ladies’ with his father Salim Khan.
A completely impressed Salman Khan took to social media to show his appreciation for the film. He took to his offical X handle and wrote, “Just saw Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies. Wah wah (wow) Kiran. I really enjoyed it and so did my father. Congrats on your debut as a director, superb job. Kab kaam karogi mere saath (When will you work with me)?”
Even though he was all praise for the director, Salman called the film Kiran Rao’s directorial debut, which is not the case. The talented filmmaker had made her directorial debut back in 2010 with ‘Dhobi Ghat’.
While many fans praised Salman for supporting a low budget film with lesser known actors, there was another section of fans who corrected Bhaijaan that it is not Kiran’s directorial debut. Salman is known to share a good bond with Aamir Khan, who is also a co-producer in ‘Laapata Ladies’.
Set in rural India in 2001, the film narrates the story of two young brides who become separated during a train journey, and the subsequent investigation led by Kishan, a police officer. The film has been applauded by critics and fans alike and it has minted nearly ₹ 10 crore at box office.
Filmmaker Kiran Rao began her journey as an Assistant Director in 2001 with Oscar nominated ‘Lagaan’ and made her directorial debut with ‘Dhobi Ghat’ which received many critical acclaims.
