Ranveer Singh watches ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ with wife Deepika Padukone; describes her performance as ‘poetry’

Deepika Padukone hosted a special screening of her blockbuster movie ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ for her actor-husband Ranveer Singh and his family on July 2. The actor, who is expecting her first child with Ranveer, was photographed arriving at a PVR theatre in Mumbai. She appeared elated as she waved at the paparazzi before entering the screening venue.

Deepika looked chic in a white tee and blue distressed jeans, paired with an oversized black blazer with white stripes. She kept her makeup minimal and sported wavy locks. Ranveer, on the other hand, opted for an all-black ensemble.

Ranveer's mom Anju Bhavnani, and sister, Ritika Bhavnani also accompanied the couple.

When the paparazzi asked Ranveer for his review of the film, he sported a big smile and gestured that the film is ‘superb.’

Shortly after watching the epic science fiction film, Ranveer shared his review on social media.

The Simmba actor wrote, ‘Kalki 2898 – a grand cinematic spectacle. That’s what big screen cinema is all about! An unprecedented level of finesse in technical execution. The very best in Indian cinema. Congrats to Nag sir & team.” Addressing Prabhas, Amitabh and Kamal, Ranveer said, “Rebel star rocks! Ulaganayagan is forever supreme! And if you are a die-hard Amitabh Bachchan fan like me, you just can’t miss this.’

Speaking about Deepika, Ranveer wrote, ‘As for my baby, you elevate every moment with your grace & dignity. Such poignancy, such poetry, such power. You are beyond compare. I love you.’

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has been performing phenomenally at the box office, grossing Rs 371 crore in India and surpassing Rs 550 crore worldwide.

The Telugu film, released in four other languages, draws heavily from the Mahabharata. Set in a dystopian future, it revolves around four characters: Sumathi (Deepika Padukone), a pregnant woman believed to be carrying the 10th avatar of Vishnu; the immortal Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), tasked with protecting the unborn child; Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), a ruthless villain who wants the child dead, knowing it will be his downfall; and Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty hunter willing to sell anyone for money.

The film has been universally acclaimed, and theories about ‘Kalki 2898 AD Part 2’ are already flooding the internet.
