Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda underwent emergency surgery at Criti Care Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai, on October 1 after accidentally shooting himself in the leg due to a misfire from his licensed gun. The former MP is now in stable condition and recovering well.

In an audio statement shared with the media by Shiv Sena leader Krishna Hegde, Govinda expressed his gratitude to his supporters. He said, ‘Namaste, pranam. I am Govinda. Thanks to your blessings, my parents’ blessings, and the grace of my guru… I was shot, but the bullet has been removed. I am grateful to the doctors here, especially Dr. Garwal. Thank you all for your prayers and support.’

According to reports, Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata on October 1st morning when the accident occurred. His close aide, Shashi Sinha, explained how it happened, confirming that Govinda is now doing fine. He told Indian Express, ‘He is out of danger and recovering well. The incident took place while he was putting his licensed revolver away in the almirah, and it fell to the ground. While handling the weapon, it accidentally discharged. The injury is located below the left knee, but the bullet has been removed. His daughter Tina is at the hospital with him, and he is conversing with everyone and feeling alright.’

Govinda's daughter, Tina Ahuja, is by his side at the hospital. She informed the news portal that the actor underwent surgery to remove the bullet. Tina mentioned that Govinda will be monitored in the ICU for a day, after which the doctors will assess his condition. His wife, Sunita Ahuja, who was traveling at the time of the incident, also hurried back to be with him.
