Actor Priyanka Chopra recently shared that she exited Bollywood after being sidelined in the industry and feeling tired of the politics. Many celebrities like Kangana Ranaut and cousin Meera Chopra extended their support to her. Now, the actor’s manager Anjula Acharia has also reacted to the viral interview through a post on Twitter.
Replying to a tweet, Anjula mentioned how she was discouraged from working with Priyanka at one point. She said ‘naysayers are just noise’ and she knew that Priyanka was a ‘global star’ from the first time she saw her on TV.
Speaking with Dax Shepherd on his podcast Armchair Expert, Priyanka mentioned that Anjula Acharia of Desi Hits called her up when she was shooting for ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’ after seeing her in a music video, and asked Priyanka if she would be interested in a music career in America.
Priyanka said, ‘I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break.’
‘This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I didn't want to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people. It would require grovelling and I had worked a long time by then that I didn't feel like I wanted to do it,’ she added.
Anjula Acharia has been with Priyanka Chopra ever since she moved to the US. They were also together at the South Asian Excellence at The Oscars 2023.
