Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday slammed the centre for introducing the National Education Policy 2020 without consulting teachers and students. He also said NEP is being 'used as a weapon to communalise and push a particular ideology' into Indian society.

The Congress leader also spoke on how to remove religion from political discourse among youth while interacting with professors at St Xavier's College in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli.

There is too much power being centralised in one institution (in the NEP). This centralisation of power is going to damage the education system’, he said.’ As long as ideas are competing without hatred and anger, there is no problem.

The problem is when you say that you can't speak because you're from a certain religion, the Wayanad MP added.
