The first batch of 10,000 doses of 2DG medicine for treating Covid-19 patients would be launched early next week, Defence Research and Development Organisation officials informed on Friday.

The drug manufacturers are working on ramping up the production of the medicine for future use.  Production of the 2-DG drug on a large-scale will start soon in Hyderabad and at other centres too.

The drug has been developed by DRDO's Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) in collaboration with Hyderabad-based Dr Reddy's Laboratories.
