Look at the condition of the veterinary hospital’s sub-centre in Doyungmukh area in border area of West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. The centre has been set up in 2001 but since then barely a vet has attended duty here. Though a vets were appointed they avoided coming to the centre on one pretext or the other. The most common excuse was that there is no availability of water, the well is dry. But now the villagers are saying that there is enough water available, despite that no vets have come. The villagers are having to walk for over 3-4 kms to the neighbouring veterinary hospital to get their cattle or animals treated. Rural Assam being primarily agrarian, proper functioning of veterinary hospitals is of utmost importance.
