After a high-level meet of NCP leaders at Sharad Pawar's residence in Delhi, the party's state chief and senior minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government Jayant Patil said there is no need for Home Minister Anil Deshmukh's resignation even as the demand for his removal by the opposition grew stronger in the wake of the allegation labeled against him by former Mubai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.

Jayant Patil told reporters ‘the Maharashtra government has decided that whoever is found guilty in investigation will be punished’. He  stressed there is no need to divert attention from the main incident of bomb scare outside Mukesh Ambani's residence and the killing of Mansukh Hiran, the Thane-based businessman.
