Techie gangrape case: 7 arrested, including 2 minors, for Chaibasa crime, say Jharkhand police

Following outrage over the alleged gang-rape of a software engineer in Jharkhand, police arrested 7 people, including 2 minors. Police announced the arrests on 23 October 2022, a day after a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to probe the case.

The techie had been allegedly gangraped on 20 October at a secluded spot near the old aerodrome in Jharkhand's Chaibasa. The woman, who works in well-known IT company, was travelling with her male friend when they were stopped by a group of people. The couple was beaten up, and then the woman was allegedly gangraped.

Police arrested 7 people after interrogating some locals who frequent the incident spot. The woman's wallet and mobile phones were recovered from those arrested.
