Over a week after a murder threat against a judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, police have found the alleged sender of the threat letter. The accused has been traced to the Bilaspur Central Jail in Chhattisgarh.

A letter received by the Registrar General of the High Court had threatened to kill a judge within 48 hours if he was not given ₹50 crore.

The alleged sender of the letter is facing trial in abduction and other cases. He has allegedly sent similar letters to prominent personalities in the past, according to police.

Cops traced the alleged sender after it emerged that the threat letter was posted from Bilaspur through speed post.

Police verified the threat letter on 1 November 2022 and questioned the jail inmate. The prisoner admitted to having sent the threat letter, as per police.
