Due to shortage of coronavirus vaccines, several centres in Mumbai witnessed long queues and mismanagement on Thursday. A long queue was seen at the BKC jumbo vaccination centre in Mumbai since morning. The BMC had released a list of vaccination centres that would be operational on April 29 and urged residents to not ‘leave homes early since it will lead to unnecessary inconvenience and crowding’.
Ignoring the civic body’s message people queued up at the centres since early morning afraid that they might not receive the vaccine otherwise. Social distancing was not followed and Covid protocols were ignored.
Around 9 am on Thursday the vaccination center announced that they received five thousand doses of vaccines. Senior citizens were given priority and allowed to enter the facility first.
