Residents of a posh housing society in Mumbai have allege that they have been victims of a “vaccination scam”. They fear they have been given fake Covid-19 shots.
At ₹1260 per dose, 390 people received the shots as part of a vaccination camp at Hiranandani Estate Society in Kandivali on May 30. The society paid around ₹5 lakh to the facilitator.
Suspicions arose when none of the inoculated persons developed any usual post-jab symptoms. The beneficiaries received their certificates 10-15 days later from different hospitals like Nanavati, Lifeline, Nesco BMC vaccination centre etc. However, when contacted, these hospitals denied providing vaccines to the housing society in question.
The incident has sparked anxiety among the residents of Hiranandani Estate, who are wondering if the shots were genuine.
