International passengers arriving at Abu Dhabi airport will now have to wear a tracking device until they complete a 14-day mandatory home quarantine in the wake of rising Covid-19 cases.
According to Etihad airways, the UAE's flag carrier, the medically approved wristband will be given to passengers on arrival and removed once the quarantine period is over. Those arriving from high-risk countries may have to quarantine at a government facility, authorities said.
The UAE is seeing its highest cases this month, since the outbreak began and recorded 786 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday. This has taken its total tally to 82,568 cases so far.
