Covid-19 has hit the Olympics village in Tokyo.
A person has tested positive for Covid at the Tokyo Olympics athletes' village, organisers said on Saturday, fuelling concerns about infections just days before the Summer Games are scheduled to begin.
Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto informed that a visitor from abroad who is involved in the organisation of the Games had tested positive. However, he did not reveal the foreigner's identity.
The infected person has been removed from the place where thousands of athletes and officials will reside during Tokyo 2020. He is currently confined in a hotel, Muto said.
The Summer Games which are set to begin from 23rd July were to be held last year but got postponed by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
