Bharatiya Janata Party chief Jagat Prakash Nadda on Monday said that the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA was delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak and will be implemented soon. He made the remark while he was addressing a meeting with social groups in West Bengal’s Siliguri. The contentious legislation was passed by Parliament during the winter session in December last year, and lead to widespread protests across the country. Bengal will go to polls next year along with Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam.
