Ahead of the India England series, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and training assistant Dayanand Garani have tested positive for Covid-19, confirmed the BCCI on Thursday. Bowling coach Bharat Arjun, reserve wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and standby opener Abhimanyu Easwaran are currently under isolation after they came in contact with Garani.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah said that Pant who did not stay in the hotel room during the break period had tested positive on July 8. He is asymptomatic and currently under isolation. Pant was spotted watching a Euro game at Wembley and was seen clicking pictures with fans without mask.
After 2 negative RT-PCR tests, Pant will be able to join the team in Durham where the Indian team will play a 3-day warm-up match starting July 20. However, all 5 members will not be participating in the practice game.
