Thalapathy Vijay has been fined ₹1 lakh by the Madras High Court for seeking exemption of tax on his imported Rolls-Royce Ghost worth ₹7.95 crore.
Dismissing Vijay's petition, court asked him to deposit the money to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Covid-19 Relief Fund within two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the order.
Quashing his petition the judge said that the actor who is portrayed as a champion of social justice in films has failed to pay entry tax.
He further added that payment of tax is the duty of every citizen and is a mandatory contribution rather than a donation.
The 'Beast' actor filed petition against the demand for ‘Entry Tax’ for his Rolls-Royce Ghost which was imported from England.
