The Congress decided to put off the election of a new party president citing Covid. The Congress Working Committee (CWC), which met on Monday, postponed the polls despite setting a date. The CWC what was mulling over holding the long-awaited internal polls on June 23 said the elections should be put off given the COVID-19 crisis. The date was postponed after the majority of members opposed the date. The post of Congress president has remained vacant since Rahul Gandhi resigned after the drubbing in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
