The Supreme Court on Thursday posed some serious question to the Andhra Pradesh government that is insisting on holding Class XII exams physically amid the Covid pandemic.
Andhra govt informed the court that it "tentatively" planning to hold exams in last week of July.
"The state should have a decision and concrete plan. How can it play with the lives of students?" the top court asked.
"Going by your affidavit, you will need 34,634 rooms with 15 students per hall. Have you worked out a formula. Do you have so many rooms?" the court asked.
The court said that it will not permit the state govt ti hold exams unless it convinces the court on its strategy to conduct exams without a single fatality.
It asked the Andhra government to submit all details about logistics, staff and safety protocols by Friday.
