Tesla to halt Shanghai factory production as China starts lockdown again

EV giant Tesla is planning to suspend production at its Shanghai factory for at least 4 days as China starts phased lockdown of it's largest city. 

Shanghai’s municipal government said on Sunday that all firms and factories will suspend manufacturing or work remotely during the lockdown.

Earlier this month, Tesla had to halt production at the factory for two days as China tightened its Covid-19 restrictions. 

China's commercial capital and by some calculations the biggest city in the country is now one of the worst-hit areas as China fights to contain a resurgence of the virus with Omicron, leading to a spike in new cases. The city of Shanghai will be locked down in two stages over nine days while authorities carry out Covid-19 testing.
