Hero brand war is now being dragged to court with India's largest electric scooter maker Hero Electric claiming rights to the brand name and sought legal aid in stopping Pawan Munjal's Hero Moto from using the branding for it's EV push.

What's in a name?
Hero Electric which is owned father-son duo of Vijay and Naveen Munjal has contended that as par of the family split in 2010 they were given the ownership of Hero Electric, along with rights to use the Hero brand for the enterprise.
Where is the speed bump?
Pawan Munjal led Hero MotoCorp is soon expected to launch a range of electric scooters and motorcycles and had also registered a new sub-brand, VIDA. The launch is expected in March this year.
Seeking legal intervention
The Naveen Munjal-led Hero Electric has claimed exclusive rights under the family pact to stop Hero MotoCorp from using the Hero brand name and has approached the Delhi High Court seeking arbitration proceedings against Hero Motocorp.
While Hero Electric is led by Naveen Munjal, Hero Motocorp is headed by his uncle Pawan Munjal. The two companies are market leaders in their respective segments.
