In a bid to tackle obesity and improve public health, Britain has decided to ban 'buy one get one free' ads for those foods that are high in sugar, salt and fat and free refills of sugary soft drinks in restaurants from April 2022.

The slew of measures will also pose restrictions on where such products can be advertised and unhealthy promotions will not be permitted at shop entrances, end of aisles or checkouts, a Reuters report said citing Jo Churchill, public health minister.

Almost 2/3rds of adults in England are overweight, the report said.
