Election campaign has picked up steam in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Addressing a BPF (Bodoland People’s Front) rally in HalangBazar in Kokrajhar, BPF chief Hagrama Mohillary said that his party would win 28 seats in the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections and for the fourth time in a row, head the Council. The elections are scheduled to be held in December. Dates are yet to be announced. BPF would be contesting in 37 seats.
He said that an all religion prayer programme would be organised in all primary level from 27th October after Durga Puja celebration to ensure free and fair BTC elections. He said that a women's mass gathering would also be held at block level across the four districts of the BTR – Baksa, Udalguri, Kokrajhar and Chirang.
An interactive session with village headmen and intellectuals of the society would also be organised ahead of the BTC elections.
