To address the growing sex disparity in the population with regards to COVID vaccination, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) ordered a women only vaccination drive on Friday.
The civic body ordered the city's vaccination centers only to administer doses to women on Friday from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm. The BMC has chosen long hours so that more and more women could come in and get vaccinated.

Dr. Sachin Pandey, who has been tracking India's Covid vaccination drive on the Covid Tika App, said the women-men vaccination ratio in India for the 18+ age group is 944:1000.
In Mumbai, 16.6 lakh fewer vaccine doses have been administered to women.
The BMC additional commissioner, Suresh Kakani further said that they had planned the special drive to make women comfortable to come and get the vaccine
Maharashtra on Thursday had crossed the seven-crore mark in providing vaccinations to its citizens
