Bengal post poll violence: Mamata Banerjee hits out at NHRC for 'leaking' report

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday lashed out at the National Human Rights Commission after it accused the state government of showing “appalling apathy” towards the victims of the post-poll violence in the state.

Banerjee accused the committee of leaking its probe report to media before submitting it to the Calcutta High Court and called the move a “political vendetta.”

The NHRC panel has recommended a CBI inquiry into “grievous offences’ in its report to the Calcutta High Court said “Situation in Bengal is a manifestation of ‘law of ruler’ instead of ‘rule of law’,”.

Mamata accused PM Modi of “slandering Bengal by misusing central agencies and running a political vendetta. She further said that her government will file a response when the court asks them to.
