BCCI on Wednesday nominated India women's captain Mithali Raj and ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.
While 38-year-old Mithali recently completed 22 years in international cricket, Ashwin's top show in the World Test Championship fetched him the country's highest sporting honour. He has also been one of India's biggest match winners in Test cricket for nearly a decade.
Apart from them, BCCI additionally nominated opener Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for the Arjuna award. No women cricketer has been nominated for Arjuna.
