Apple said that its decision to stop bundling chargers along with new iPhones and other devices will save up 8,61,000 tonnes of copper, zinc, and tin. Apple also claimed that the resulting smaller packaging boxes allowed shipping pallets to carry 70% more iPhone boxes over the previous generation. The claims were made in Apple’s 2021 Environmental Progress Report, which also says that Apple reduced its CO2 emissions from 25.1 million tons in 2019 to 22.6 million in 2020, and cut energy use by 13.9 million kWh.
