All athletes participating in Winter Olympics to get Covid-19 booster shots, say organisers

China where the 2022 winter Olympics will be held, continues to prepare itself for the mega event despite the Covid-19 scare and the arrival of the Omicron variant in the nation. While there are chances of postponement of the Winter Olympics, the construction at the 12 venues including the National Ski Jumping Center, the Zhangjiakou National Cross-Country Skiing Center, and the Genting Snow Park is complete.

The Beijing authorities are sure of warding off any public health risks caused because of the winter Olympics which will be held behind closed doors.

Wang Jingxian, facility manager at the national ski jumping center informed that a booster shot of the Covid-19 vaccine is mandatory for all the athletes participating in the event. He further said that those involved in the game will be regularly tested for the virus. 

The Winter Olympics are set to begin from 4th February to 20th February in 3 competition zones in Beijing, Zhangjiakou and Yanqing.
