Airtel announces steep hike in tariffs, entry level plan price doubles in 4 months

Airtel has announced a steep price hike for pre-paid customers across the board. Effective November 26, the price hikes are in the range of 20-25% and are seen across voice plans and data bundles.

The big jump is for entry-level pre-paid customers whose minimum charges has been raised to Rs 99 from Rs 79 previously. In fact the price has more than doubled from the Rs 49 charge in July before the initial hike. 

The popular pre-paid Rs 298 plan will now cost Rs 359, while data top up for 12 GB data will now cost Rs 118 vs 98 and a bigger boost of 50 GB is costlier by over Rs 50 with a bill of Rs 301.
