Just a few days after New Zealand abandoned their Pakistan tour moments before the start of the first ODI, England has also decided to pull out from the trip to Pakistan.

The England and Wales Cricket Board in a statement said that the mental and physical well-being of their players and support staff remains their highest priority and with increasing concerns about travelling to the region will add further pressure to a playing group which has already coped with a long period of operating in restricted Covid environments.

This left the Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ramiz Raja disappointed, who tweeted to say that it's a wake up call for the Pakistan team to become the best side in the world for teams to line up to play them without making excuses.

England's men's and women's teams were scheduled to travel to Pakistan in October but ECB has reluctantly decided to withdraw both teams.
