Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani left Kabul hours after Taliban surrounded the capital city, Tolo news reported quoting sources.

Ghani's close aides too have reportedly left the country along with him, with a Reuters report saying he may have left for Tajikistan.

The development comes as Taliban pressed for a peaceful takeover. Top Taliban leader Mullah Baradar was pictured inside the presidential place as reports said a takeover deal was being brokered.

Earlier a report said that Ghani held a meeting with the US and NATO representatives.
