15 BJP Lakshadweep leaders quit over sedition case on filmmaker

15 BJP l eaders in Lakshadweep have quit the party in protest against the sedition case on filmmaker Aisha Sulthana. NDTV has reported that the leaders have written to the BJP Lakshadweep president C Abdul Khader, saying they are quitting the party to mark their protest against the case.

The sedition case was filed against Sulthana on a complaint by Khader who alleged that on a TV show, she said that the BJP used biological weapon to spread Covid in Lakshadweep.

Backing Sulthana, the BJP leaders have said that the case is "false and unjustified".

The letter has been signed by BJP state secretary Abdul Hameed Mullipuzha among others, report said.
Lakshadweep has seen massive protests from residents and political parties against administrator Pragul Patel's several decisions.
