Xiaomi overtakes Apple to become the world's second largest smartphone maker

According to a report from Canalys, Xiaomi has overtaken Apple to become the second largest smartphone maker in terms of global sales for Q2 2021.

The Chinese tech giant now reportedly holds a 17% market share and sits just behind Samsung at 19%.

Canalys says that in terms of growth, fellow Chinese brands Oppo and Vivo recorded 28% and 27% respectively, while Xiaomi grew a whopping 83% in the same time period.
