As hurricane Ian makes a landfall in parts of Florida, the catastrophic storm has swiftly stormed into streets, houses and hospitals of the city.

One of the worst affected areas has been Fort Myers, where the hurricane has resulted in major flooding.

Several videos show public life coming to a standstill with locals standing helpless as they see the hurricane wreaking havoc.

The storm surges ahead making strides in north eastern parts of Florida leaving the roads and traffic movement clogged.

Ian, which has been tipped as US’s one of the most powerful storms, has stretched across Florida, knocking out power in many areas. Over 1 million people have been affected.

The hurricane arrived as a category 4 storm in St Petersburg last night, resulting in heavy winds and an inundated sea.

The aftermath is more than what has been anticipated as can be seen in visuals.  Like for instance, at a fire station in Naples, rescue team can be seen helping people wade through knee-deep water.

Several videos of people struggling to find a way out are also doing the rounds.  A video from Fort Myers Beach shows destroyed houses floating away in the aftermath of the hurricane.
