Video shows moment 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit China's Gansu

A video captured the moment a 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit Jishishan county, Linxia, in China's Gansu Province on Monday midnight. In that around 116 people were killed as buildings started collapsing in northwest China, state media reported. 

In the viral video, the buildings can be seen shaking before collapsing. Other videos show emergency personnel going through debris by torchlight as part of rescue operations. 

China's President Xi Jinping issued a call for all-out efforts in the search, relief work, and safeguarding of the survivors and their belongings. 

The earthquake was felt in the major city of Xi'an in northern Shaanxi province, which was about 570 kilometres away- as being magnitude 6.2, reported Xinhua.
