A Boeing 737-89P aircraft of Smartavia airlines was involved in a tail strike incident while landing at the Sochi International Airport in Russia on August 18.
The aircraft was operating from St. Petersburg on the day. While tail strikes are not unheard off during take-off and landing, the extent of the damage in this case may require the aircraft to be scrapped.
No injuries were reported among the passengers.
