In major relief for Ukrainians fleeing the invasion of their country by Russia, the US government on 13 March 2023 said that it will allow such refugees to stay in America longer.
The announcement came as a reprieve for Ukrainians whose one-year authorisation to remain in the US was set to expire soon.
The Biden administration said that the extension covers those Ukrainians and their immediate family members who arrived in the US before the Uniting For Ukraine programme started.
