Mark Smith, a British Foreign Office official, resigned in protest the Prime Minister Keir Starmer government’s arms sales to Israel. He said that his country’s government ‘may be complicit in war crimes’.The counter terror expert wrote to his colleagues on August 16 that he ‘raised concerns at every level’ of the office but received nothing except acknowledgement’.Stating that he witnessed ‘clear and unquestionable’ examples of war crimes by Israel, Smith said, and I quote: “Senior members of the Israeli government and military have expressed open genocidal intent, Israeli soldiers take videos deliberately burning, destroying and looting civilian property. There was no justification for the UK's continued arms sales to Israel.”
