Titanic submersible's 'implosion' was detected on Day 1, says report; all occupants confirmed dead

The US Coast Guard on June 22, local time confirmed that all 5 occupants of the Titan tourist submersible headed to the wreck of the Titanic ship had died.

The tourist vessel had suffered a "catastrophic implosion", officials said. The submersible's debris was found on June 22 around 1,600 feet from the bow of the Titanic ship.

Meanwhile, reports quoted a US Navy officer as saying that the force had detected an implosion on June 18, the day that the submersible went missing.

Since the information was not definitive, a decision was made to continue the search.
