A stampede broke out in Yemen's capital Sanaa, reportedly leading to the deaths of more than 80 people, and leaving many injured.

The incident occurred on the night of April 19, 2023, during a charity event organised in the last days of Ramzan.

The event had been organised by merchants, and hundreds of poor people had reportedly gathered.

The Houthi-run administration blamed the "random distribution" of funds without coordinating with local authorities.
