Russian officials are building a water pipeline that would connect country's Rostov region to Ukraine's Donbas region.

Moscow last year claimed Donetsk and Luhansk which make up the Donbas region as 'republics' of Russia.

Donbas region has a scarcity of water owing to fewer resources. The region earlier depended on large-scale pipelines that were damaged due to one year of fighting and also requires electricity which is often interrupted.
