While Russians have battered much of the military structure in Ukraine, Putin's soldiers are facing resistance on the ground from the unarmed civilians of this former Soviet Union region.
Days into war, it is clear that a people's resistance is making the Russian incursion difficult.
1. Ukrainian Man Obstructs Russian Tank
Man in provincial Ukraine obstructed a Russian tank, standing his ground even as the tank attempted to push past him. The giant military vehicle eventually came to a halt with barely any inches left between the man and the tank.
2. Go Home, Go Home
In the resort town of Berdyansk, on the Azov Sea, dozens of protesters chanted angrily in the main square against their Russian occupiers, who captured the town Sunday.
They described the soldiers as exhausted young conscripts.
Video shot by a local resident showed Russian military vehicles in the city centre with people encircling them and chanting: "Go home, go home."
The video footage also showed Berdyansk residents holding Ukrainian flags and singing the Ukrainian anthem as they confronted the Russian soldiers.
3. Ukrainians Surround Russian Tank
On Monday, civilians on the outskirts of Koryukivka were seen blocking the movement of Russian tanks. The act of bravery was captured in a 24-second video shared by news agency AFP early on Monday.

5. Man steals Russian tank
An undated video doing the rounds on social media shows a Ukrainian farmer using his tractor to tow away a supposedly abandoned Russian military tank as onlookers cheer him on. The video provides respite from grim news of constant battles between Russian and Ukrainian forces.
