Zaman Mehdi, Pakistan's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, criticised Israel during his address to the United Nations Human Rights Council regarding the ongoing war with Hamas militants.
Mehdi, while speaking on behalf of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation said, "The so-called declaration of war and attacks on the civilian population and their properties is deeply distressing". India Today reported.
During the session, he also urged members to observe silence and mourn the loss of lives in "the occupied Palestinian territory and elsewhere".
The diplomat also slammed the 16-year blockade of Gaza, calling it illegal.
Notably, Pakistan has backed Palestine time and again and after the recent flare-up the country expressed solidarity with it.
