Pakistan: blast on passenger train; at least 2 killed on Peshawar-Quetta Jaffer Express, say reports

An explosion occurred onboard a passenger train in Pakistan on 16 February 2023, as per reports.

The blast took place on Jaffer Express, travelling from Peshawar to Quetta. This was the second incident targeting Jaffer Express in 3 weeks.

The explosion happened when the train was passing Chichawatni railway station, according to Pakistan's ARY News. The blast occurred in bogey number 6 of the economy class, as per sources quoted in reports.

At least two people died and more than 5 were injured, according to initial reports.

On 30 January, Jaffer Express had suffered an explosion which had injured at least 8 passengers. Two bogeys of the train had also been derailed.
