A popular TV host in Russia has called for China’s help as Ukraine launched its long-awaited counteroffensive against Moscow.

Olga Skabeyeva, host of the Russian TV program 60 Minutes, offered one solution to bolster the country's military.

Calling for millions of Chinese troops to join the Russia-Ukraine war, the TV host highlighted recent battles in the Belgorod region where Putin's forces have struggled.

The video of the TV host’s remarks was translated and posted to Twitter by Anton Gerashchenko, who is an adviser to the Ukraine government.

Skabeyeva said there is no need to dismiss two or three million Chinese soldiers and that is what is needed now.

China has been a major ally to the Russian president after he launched his "special military operation" on Ukraine last February.
