A New Zealand minister resigned on July 24, a day after being involved in a car crash and allegedly resisting arrest.

Justice minister Kiri Allan was involved in a car accident at around 9 pm on July 23.

She was detained at the central police station and released after 4 hours.

Allan was handed an infringement notice for excess breath alcohol, and also charged with careless use of a car and refusing to accompany a police officer.
